Services offered to clients within East Lothian, although do take clients to appointments outside the county to Edinburgh and further afield. Destinations include GP, Nurse, Hospital, Podiatry, dentist and other health appointments. Suitable for people over 65 who for mobility or other reasons cannot access public or other private transport.
Notes
Community transport service for older persons who do not have access to their own transport and are unable to use public transport due to location, age or health. Volunteers use their own cars and there is a charge of £5.00 for the first 4 miles then 85p per mile. Increased charges may apply if a volunteer has to be brought from further away or if a client's appointment exceeds 2 hours. They ask for as much notice as possible to arrange transport for the client. Clients who use mobility aids such as wheeled walkers/ rollators and wheelchairs are welcome but please note that the client must be able to move themselves into the car by themselves.
